Lack of proficiency in English is one of many obstacles facing our residents and poor transportation to far away adult education classes compound the problem.

Our small informal ESL classes held two mornings a week provide a great opportunity to local residents who might otherwise have no English instruction. We believe people learn best in an atmosphere of love and respect.

Citizenship

Many of our neighbors have resided and worked in the United States for many years and, given current trends in immigration, have opted to acquire US citizenship. In addition to the monetary expenses and time involved, .applicants are required to fill out numerous forms and demonstrate proficiency in civics and English.

We work with our neighbors on all these matters, whether it be translating a document, explaining the workings of constitutional system, or helping gain proficiency in English. We are pleased with the success many of oour neighbors have had in normalizing their migratory status after many years of uncertainty. We pray for the many who continue to live under the uncertain conditions of being undocumented.
